Veterinary Assistant Full-time: 4x10 hour shift with rotating Saturdays Leon Valley, TX Covenant Care Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. About You As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Role responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Support veterinarians and Technicians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Keeping kennels and the clinic clean and restocked.
- Restraining patients
- Nail trims and anal gland expressions.
- Observe and monitor patients recovering from surgery and report any problems to a tech or doctor
- Clean and sterilize packs and surgery supplies
- Remove IV catheters from surgery patients
- Walk all dogs when needed
- Assist with the check out process
- Other tasks as they are assigned
Experience & Skills Requirements: - 1-2 years of clinical experience
- Certified Vet Assistant preferred, not required
- Team player
- Great communication skills
About the Hospital Covenant Care Animal Hospital is a full-service, small animal veterinary hospital on the northwest side of San Antonio. We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm and Saturday 7:30am-12pm
