Overview

Salary Range: $43,060-$66,443

The Sr. Dispatcher is responsible for doing the work as dispatchers. The Sr. Dispatcher ensures timely coordination and inland dispatch of ocean and airfreight shipments for delivery to customers. This Import Department position is also responsible for verifying completeness of documents accompanying the shipments and proactively communicating shipment and delivery status to ensure a clear and steady work flow.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with trucking companies for timely pick-up and delivery of freight to customers:

• Verify shipments are fully released and payments posted before shipment is dispatched for delivery.
• Ensure required type of vehicle and space is available with the trucking companies prior to dispatch- Verify accurate piece count and calculate weight and dimension of freight.
• Ensure freight is booked at correct rates by calculating miles driven and verifying trucking rates with the billing department.

• Maintain accurate shipment records:

• Ensure shipments are forwarded with accurate documentation and related dispatch and delivery information.
• Obtain proof of delivery
• Maintain updated dispatch/trucking and delivery information in related shipping files and computer systems.

• Customer Service:

• Provide excellent and timely customer service by providing timely, accurate and detailed information to all parties requesting status information.
• Advise supervisor of any problems or irregularities within assigned transactions. Actively participate in problem resolution.

Qualifications

3-5 year related experience in transportation, logistics; freight forwarding or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be teachable and eager to learn.

• Must possess excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette.
• Able to handle stressful situations.
• Able to take instructions and follow-through independently.
• Must have good personal organization skills and be able to multi-tasking.
• Must be able to present oneself in a cooperative and professional .
