Position Overview

The Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt, inspection, and documentation of inbound goods to support production, inventory control, and order fulfillment. This role ensures all inbound shipments are processed according to company procedures and quality standards, maintaining operational flow in a high-volume CPG warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and stage inbound shipments of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading for accuracy.
  • Inspect products for damage, quality compliance, and quantity discrepancies; report and resolve issues promptly.
  • Record receipts and update inventory in the warehouse management system (WMS/ERP).
  • Label, palletize, and transfer goods to appropriate storage or production areas.
  • Maintain receiving logs and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, quality control, and production to address receiving issues.
  • Ensure receiving and staging areas remain organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory audits as required.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in warehouse or receiving operations; CPG or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (Dynamics 365, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Accuracy rate of receipts and inventory entries.
  • Turnaround time for processing inbound shipments.
  • Compliance with safety, quality, and documentation standards.
  • Reduction in receiving errors or discrepancies.
