Job Description

A Special Education Teacher is needed to support a Life Skills program serving 5th and 6th grade students in a middle school setting near Olathe, KS. This contract position runs for the current school year and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a small caseload of six students.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and support tailored to students' unique learning needs within the Life Skills program
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs that promote student growth and independence
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Provide a safe and inclusive classroom environment fostering social, emotional, and academic development
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and goals

Qualifications:

• Valid Kansas Special Education certification (no provisional or emergency credentials accepted)
• Experience teaching 5th and 6th grade students preferred
• Strong understanding of Life Skills curriculum and strategies for fostering student independence
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in working with students, families, and staff

Location:

• Middle school setting near Olathe, Kansas

Compensation:

• Hourly pay rate between $28 and $44, commensurate with degree, experience, and interview results
